PREVENTION

REAL SAFETY. REAL TRUST. REAL EDUCTION. REAL HEALING.

We understand that alcohol and substance use affect people in different ways, and that every step toward safety and well-being matters. Our harm reduction approach is built on compassion, education, and practical strategies that reduce risks while honoring individual choices.

Through prevention, awareness, and supportive resources, we empower individuals, families, and communities to make safer decisions, improve health outcomes, and build stronger paths toward recovery and resilience.

1. Harm Reduction & Risk Reduction

• Relapse Intervention: Supporting individuals with strategies to recognize triggers and maintain recovery.

• Access to Treatment: Connecting people with detox programs, counseling, and recovery services when they’re ready.

• Education & Awareness: Sharing life-saving information about substance risks, overdose prevention, and safer practices.

• Support for PWID (People Who Inject Drugs): Providing harm reduction tools such as safe syringe programs, naloxone distribution, and education to prevent overdose and the spread of infectious diseases.

2. Family & Peer Support

Recovery and prevention are strongest when no one walks the path alone. We provide:

• Family Programs that teach communication, resilience, and positive parenting.

• Peer Support & Mentorship to foster accountability and encouragement.

• Healthy Alternatives & Skill-Building such as sports, creative outlets, and personal development programs that promote self-worth and empowerment.

By strengthening families and peer networks, we build a support system that nurtures healthy choices and long-term success.

3. Screening & Assessments

Early detection can change the trajectory of a life. Our work includes:

• Screening Tools in schools, healthcare settings, and community programs to identify risks before they escalate.

• Comprehensive Assessments to connect individuals with the right level of care and resources.

• Policy & Environmental Change: Advocating for community and workplace standards that reduce exposure and increase accountability.

Through proactive screening and systemic change, we stop small risks from becoming lifelong struggles.

4. Brief Interventions

Sometimes, a short conversation

can open the door to transformation. We use evidence-based techniques such as motivational interviewing and solution-focused conversations to:

• Help individuals recognize risks.

• Encourage positive behavior changes.

• Connect people to treatment and recovery resources when needed.

Brief interventions provide timely support and can be the spark that inspires a healthier

Why It Matters

At TAJUDDIN RENEWAL PROJECT, prevention is not about judgment — it’s about compassion, connection, and creating opportunities for change.

By focusing on harm reduction, support systems, early detection, and timely intervention, we are building healthier families, stronger communities, and brighter futures.

“Whoever saves one life - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely”.

Weekly Healing Exercise

Complete the daily activities at your own pace. Each activity is designed to reduce risk, increase safety, and promote informed choices. Optional items provide additional support.

Monday – Awareness & Risk Reflection

• Journal your substance use patterns or triggers; identify situations where risk is highest.

• Read or watch one harm reduction resource on safer substance use, overdose prevention, or injection safety.

• Optional: Discuss risks and harm reduction strategies with a trusted family member, peer, or mentor.

Tuesday – Safe Practices & Wellness

• Practice 20–30 minutes of physical activity to improve health and resilience.

• Prepare a healthy snack or meal; reflect on how nutrition supports safer recovery.

• Optional: Learn a new relaxation or mindfulness technique to reduce stress-related triggers.

Wednesday – Risk Reduction Planning

• Identify one high-risk behavior (e.g., unsafe injection, binge drinking) and write a safer alternative.

• Journal about potential barriers to safety and how you can address them.

• Optional: Share harm reduction strategies with a peer or mentor for accountability.

Thursday – Mindfulness & Decision Making

• Spend 10–15 minutes on mindfulness, meditation, or breathing exercises to manage cravings or urges safely.

• Make a personal harm reduction plan: include triggers, coping strategies, and safe alternatives.

• Optional: Create a “safety kit” at home with naloxone, clean injection supplies (if legal), and emergency contacts.

Friday – Education & Resource Access

• Review one harm reduction tip or guide: safe alcohol use, injection hygiene, or overdose prevention.

• Make a list of local harm reduction resources: testing centers, needle exchange programs, support groups, or peer mentors.

• Optional: Contact one resource for guidance, virtual support, or testing information.

Saturday – Connection & Safe Engagement

• Check in with a peer, mentor, or family member about harm reduction strategies.

• Plan a safe recreational activity (music, art, or hobby) that reduces risk exposure.

• Optional: Reflect on how social connection supports safer choices and reduces isolation.

Sunday – Reflection & Safety Planning

• Review the week: note behaviors that were high-risk and what you did to reduce harm.

• Set one concrete harm reduction goal for the upcoming week (e.g., safer injection practice, avoiding high-risk situations, or carrying naloxone).

• Optional: Write a gratitude list focused on your commitment to safer practices and informed choices.
